Fish
Rockin'! - This is the rock goby (Gobius paganellus).
Amidst the algae and rocky substrate it was meant to be invisible. I would say that its erect dorsal fins gave it away....
Look at those cute serrated teeth!
Gentle turmoil - Taken in Foz, Galicia.
The mullets were on a frenzy! There is just something special about organic matter... Taaastyyyy!
PS: Imagine all of these were sharks. =O
Left to dry - It is not the most pleasent of views, but it does not mean it cannot be coverted into something more.
Traditional method from Nazaré, the fish; mackerels in this case (Trachurus sp); are caught and left do dry in trays at the beach. Where they can be seen and bought. Without proper data, I can only hope that these fisheries are sustainable
Leap of faith - A trout (Salmo trutta) doing its best to overcome a waterfall.
Migratory fish species depend on this ability to return to their spawning locations.
"Along the way, you gotta have faith".
Shannon? - I hereby present you: the shanny (Lipophrys pholis). Its fish friends call it Shannon. XD
It is a common species of blenny around rock pools during low tide.
PS: Sorry to have invaded your aquatic privacy...
Frenzy of feeding fish! - Mullets such as these (Chelon labrosus) feed on detritus on the water column.
So, open your mouths "boys", it is chowder time! Never miss a spec of floating debris that nobody knows where it came from....
