Mammals

"Nut York" - Munch away my furry friend.

This gray squirrel (Sciurus carolinensishas adapted to the city life.  Central Park in New York city is its home. It certainly is not shy. All the seeds and some of the human scraps are at its disposal.

Proud or sleepy? - I know... I cheated on this one. It was captured in a zoo.

It is not everyday that you can take a snapshot of the king of the jungle, and certianly not as docile as this one seems to be.

This blows! - A rare moment (for a marine biologist working mostly on land) of a Bottlnose Dolphin (Tursiops truncatus), surfacing and expelling water through its blowhole.

A population of this species resides in the Sado Estuary, a delight for ecotourism and a terror for the neighboring fish.

Grass muncher - Th sika deer (Cervus nippon) is originally from japan, later introduced in other countries where it spread without predators. Like this little/average guy, munching grass close to a parking lot in rural Ireland.

If one overlooks the part where it is not native, the encounter is more enjoyable. They are still quite cute. XD

"High" Monkey - Gibraltar is a peculiar place.
It is not the British or the Spanish that rule the Rock, it is the Barbart Apes!

Despite their wild look, more than half of their food comes directly from humans. Luckily, when I visited I managed to keep my food safe.

Spikey fellow - When a body is covered by modified thick and pointy fur, observers tend to wrongly belive that they are spines.

The european hedgehog (Erinaceus europaeus) is an insectivore species, mostly active at night. Seeing this cute snout during daylight is indeed sheer luck.
