Sceneries

Above and beyond - Nazaré (Western Portugal), town of the biggest waves in the planet!
But this gull surely is not impressed. It has seen them come and go, come and go....

On my way.... - There is something special about Autumn.... There is something spceial about old train tracks....
And there is definitely something special about Sintra.

Kraków's tempest! - After a brief yet consistent storm passed, the return home was a priority.
Along the flooded sidewalk of the Vistula River, cautious steps press forward.

Uphill haven - Eastern Terceira Island, Azores: sometimes the best views are those on the way to the viewpoint, just below the morning fog.

A pinch of autumn light blessing the right moment in time.

Wind-powered sky! - Bird migration from Europe to Africa is full of many challenges. As they cross the skies they have to watch out for wind turbines.

If all goes well, they reach their destination and we get some renewable energy.

Advantageous lake view - People also perch to evaluate the surrounding landscape at Czarny Staw GÄ…sienicowy, deep within the rugged Tatra Mountains.

The shorts and top indicate summer time obviously. The attirement for winter would be much different.

Salty but cozy - In Rio Maior, there is a savory village. It is next to a salt mine, where salt has been extracted for many centuries,

Some of the houses where they stored the salt have been transformed into services, some of them quite sweet in service and products.

Forested tranquility - The moss and the stream, shadowed and sheltered by Japanese Cedars (Cryptomeria japonica).

Peaceful for a nature bath.

Tectonic! - This valley in Serra da Arrábida (Portugal), is known as the "breach".

For those who dare to step into the depths of this geological valley, they will find the lost Jurassic World.
Well, something close enough.

Follow the gray stone.... aqueduct - Near the city of Tomar, it has stood strong for almost 400 years.

Channeling water for sustenance and desires along 180 arches.

Amidst the mist - In northern portugal, after the grape harvest, the fields look empty and cold. However it is simply time for rest and renewal.

The leaves convert into organic matter, sharing fertility with the soils for future and scrumptious harvests ;)

Stagnant Echoes - The winters in central Portugal are not cold enough to freeze the landscape.

Nevertheless, one of the wonders of photography is to breathtakingly "freeze" a scene. =)

Powdered sugar - Latvia, the first snowfall of the season.

The sparsely-leaved trees resemble chocolate sticks and the snow covers it like powdered sugar.
Damn it, now I'm hungry.....

World's Edge - Sliabh Liag almost seems forgotten at the edge of the northwest of Ireland.

Engulfed by the ocean, touched by the mist and bitten by roaming sheep; these cliffs deserve a visit.

Beyond the clouds - A snapshot of Alentejo.

Agriculture, forestry, a dam, hills, quaint villages  and a castle, all below a thin veil of clouds. Breathtaking...

Gardenscape - The Botanical Gardens of Coimbra date back from 1772.

Nowadays, groups of university students and lonesome adventurers marvel their senses while strolling along conforting pathways.

Firehead - The saltmarsh holds a scenery filled with secrets.
Lines of halophyte vegetation, flocks of seagulls and dots of human visitors with colorful hair.

It is just a matter of being their and framing it.

Alpine Poster - August of 2024, trailing the Tatra Mountains around the Polish side. Pink lupin flowers below and forest-covered highlands above.

I could swear that Heidi was dancing around in the valley. Such imposing wilderness with a slight touch of architecture.

A scent of Africa - Cádiz, located in the southwest of Spain still has traces of its Moorish past.

From music to dance, cuisine, architecture, language and cultural festivals, a tourist cannot help but notice that there is an African taste in the air.

Riverine tranquility - The Sado River flows through Alcácer do Sal. Winter brings calm temperate days to the small city.

Who needs photoshop when reality looks like this?

Solid as a rock - Being solid as a rock does not mean eternal integrity. Not while facing the mean green!

That is probably why "paper" (cellulose) beats "rock".

Horizon's Lagoon - These pink knotweeds (Persicaria capitata) have overrun the stone wall where they grow.

Now they are a barrier between a forestside lagoon on one side and an ancient lava tunnel on the other.

In between the lines - It was a rare oportunity, seeing the montado (cork oak artificial landscape) from above.

Considering all the tracks, it appears to be busier than we realize from the ground view.
